SURVIVE and THRIVE Programs Soothe Hospitalized Babies With Congenital Heart Defects

THRIVE Program: Heart Warriors Get Rewarded for Bloodwork Bravery

Going to the doctor to get a shot is yucky for any kid. Unfortunately the special babies fighting Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) must be stuck way more often than most to get bloodwork on a consistent basis.  Yikes!

Bright Heart Foundation has stepped in to ease baby by making it a little less frightening and a little more rewarding for the children.  Through our THRIVE Program, we have teamed up with the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital phlebotomy lab to hand out precious little rewards for being such strong heart warriors!

THRIVE Program: Providing Playmats For Pediatric Physical Recovery

During our last inpatient hospital stay with our own 3 year-old son, Luke, who was recovering from his 3rd open heart surgery, we saw how our beautiful boy lost the ability to walk in just 9 short days!  Shocking!

We fought tirelessly beside him to regain his muscle strength to get back to his own physical “normal”.  We also noticed that it was hard to obtain playmats for the crucial Physical Therapy (PT) needed to help children, just like Luke, reach their own physical goals because the hospital was in desperate need of them.

Bright Heart Foundation stepped in with our THRIVE Program by providing the much-needed playmats to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital 10th floor Child Life Team to be sure that is never a problem for our children battling Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) again.

SURVIVE Program: Providing the Best Rest for Hospitalized Children Fighting CHD

Bright Heart Foundation in partnership with our dear friends @momsoncall have teamed up to provide the best rest for our babies and their families who are inpatient in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

We knew we wanted to ease the sterile stay of the hospital a bit and provide comfort – so we called MOC – @momsoncall that is!

These little guys are the primo Lectrofan sound machines that are the chosen tool of the baby sleep training experts @momsoncall . Because rest is so important to health and well being, these little guys will now live beside the life-saving equipment as another vital piece of the healing puzzle to soothe baby in the PCICU thanks to this generous donation!

Thank you @MomsOnCall for your continued care of our Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) community!
