American Heart Association Honors: Luke’s CHD Journey

American Heart Association Honors: Luke’s CHD Journey

February 23, 2019 – It was a grand event when 14-month-old, Luke Pilkinton, was honored for his Congenital Heart Defect journey and given a platform for spreading awareness at the annual Heart Ball put on by the American Heart Association of Knoxville.  The evening began with a cocktail hour where guests were able to mingle with baby Luke and ask questions about his diagnosis one-on-one.  The evening progressed with a delicious seated dinner and live auction.  Finally the patrons watched a beautiful video created by Nashville-based “3 Sons Media” documenting Luke and his family’s experience in utero through his first months of infant life with CHD.  As the video ended, over 300+ guests were moved to their feet with overhwelming applause welcoming Luke and his parents to the stage.  Clint & Linda Pilkinton thanked everyone for their generous support of the American Heart Association of Knoxville and for allowing them to use Luke’s story to spread knowledge about the world of CHD.  That evening’s event helped to raise about $1.6 million for the Knoxville Chapter.  A huge success all around!
